MUSICAL DIRECTION
Rosemary Cole
DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

Born in Plymouth, Rosemary's early career was in Publishing and in Radio and Television broadcasting. She studied Organ with Dr Harry Moreton of St. Andrew's Church, Plymouth, and studied singing with Charles Kennedy Scott at Trinity College, London. 

Married, with four daughters, Rosemary, as a mature student, gained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Music and Education from Exeter University. 

Formerly Head of Music at St. Dunstan's Abbey School for Girls and Devonport High School for Girls, Rosemary now teaches Voice Production and Singing in Kingsbridge. 

She is also Organist of St. Edmund's Church, Kingsbridge, and Director of Music of the Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir and for The Stanborough Chorus. 

Rosemary as Director of Music is ably supported by the Choir's two accompanists who are David Crocker and Elizabeth Sidebotham.

DAVID CROCKER G.T.C.L.; L.T.C.L. [Mus.Ed.]; A.T.C.L. [Piano Teaching]; A.R.C.O.

David studied music privately and at school before entering Trinity College of Music as a student on the graduate course. On leaving he became a School Teacher, but, later he became a freelance musician, teaching piano and organ; accompanying choirs and instrumentalists, as well as his work as Church musician. He also enjoys composing and arranging music which has been performed in public. His current musical commitments include accompanying the Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir, and Plymstock Phoenix Singers; and playing the organ at St Mary's Church, Samford Spinney and at St. Julius' Church, Horrabridge.

ELIZABETH SIDEBOTHAM ALCM  LLCM

Biography

Having studied piano from an early age I began to accompany choirs at the age of 14, taking part in many competitions eg. Chester, Blackpool, Harrogate and the Llangollen Eisteddfodd. • After gaining an Associate and the Licentiate of the London College of Music Diplomas I continued to study with Ronald Settle at the Bluecoat Chambers in Liverpool, whilst accompanying many instrumental and vocal soloists for concerts and diploma examinations and giving a performance of Beethoven's 3 rd Piano concerto with my local orchestra in Cheshire.

• Accompanist for the St Nicholas R.C. girls' choir when they were invited to take part in the “Jim'll Fix It” tv programme in 1988 and when they took part in the Sainsburys Choir of the Year competition. I also travelled on tour with them to Holland, Canada and the USA.

• Moved to Cornwall in 1989 and began to accompany male voice choirs, ie Saltash mvc and the Cornwall County mvc on occasion, as well as playing for numerous amateur dramatic musical productions in Plymouth and directing one production of “Oliver” and was the Musical Director of the Saltash mvc .

• Began accompanying the Rame Peninsula mvc in 2004 and took part with them in the International Male Voice Choral competition. • Currently accompany 4 choirs and play with 2 dance bands and compose and arrange all types of music .My 4 part mvc song entries gained 1 st prize in in the 2003 composers' competition which is held in conjunction with the International Male Voice Choral competition. In 2005 my entry won 2 nd and 4 th , and in 2008 1st prize again.

• In 2006 travelled to Spain with the Rame Peninsula Male choir and in 2007 travelled to Singapore and New Zealand as the Trelawny Male Choir's accompanist and soloist, and to the Czech Republic with Tamar valley Male Voice choir in 2008.

• Also accompany the singing group Halfway Harmony on the accordion and have appeared at various functions with them including the Royal Cornwall show and the Tall Ships Festival. Some of my songs have been performed and recorded on CDs with the English Chamber choir, the Tamar Concert choir and the St Piran singers. Other songs have been performed in Canada and the USA.
