The Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir with their Director of Music, Rosemary Cole NEWS
A new male voice choir has been formed to entertain people on both sides of the Tamar River. The choir was established on the 9 th of May and nearly seven weeks later were ready to make their first public performance. The choir in the main are formed by Cornishmen but three members are from Kingsbridge, Devon, as is Rosemary Cole, the Director of Music. The choir's first outing was in support of a ‘Songs of Praise' at Chillington Methodist Church, near Kingsbridge. The occasion was well supported by the community with approximately a hundred people in attendance. The congregation was rapturous in its praise for the quality of the choir's performance and it is hoped that this will become an annual fixture. The choir is already planning several concerts in and around Cornwall and Devon. For instance a concert is being planned for Tavistock, and on the 13 th October 2006 at Kingsbridge they will be sharing the stage with Richard Stilgoe. The choir meets at the Primary School in Callington every Tuesday evening at 7.30 pm and are delighted at being based there. Men who enjoy singing, and the fellowship of male company, are very welcome – car sharing is in operation. The choir is looking for bass or tenors voices, and anything in between! The choir also has a ladies' support group who are actively fund raising to get the choir on a firm financial footing.
