Gala Concert success for TVMVC

More than 300 people packed into St. Eustachious   Church, Tavistock for the Tamar Valley Male Voice   Choir’s annual Gala Concert on 23rd June.   Compèred   by BBC Spotlight’s Justin Leigh who is    also the   Choir’s President, the concert featured a    range of   much loved favourites performed by the   choir,   along  with new pieces.

Special guests were 2Ts and a Cothi – the remarkable Welsh singers

Aled Wyn Davies, Rhys Meirion and Shan Cothi. With the help of their talented accompanist Caradog Williams, the singers dazzled the audience with a wide range of pieces from traditional Welsh hymns, to opera. It was the third time that Aled has been a guest at the Gala and the second visit from Rhys.

TVMVC’s Director of Music, Rosemary Cole, received a  standing ovation at the start

of the concert in recognition of  her receiving a British Empire Medal in the recent    Queen’s    Birthday Honours List.

Rosemary was awarded the BEM for services to the performing arts in the

   south-west.

       .

The concert also helped to raise a good sum for the evening’s chosen charity Children’s Happy Hospital, which supports children and young people who are patients in Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital.

Following the pleasurable but hard work of putting on

this brilliant Gala Concert the choir has been enjoying a short summer break but will soon be returning to get

ready for its next set of concerts. You can find out more
